A movie, also known as a motion picture, movie trailer or short video, is an artistic work of multimedia art designed to simulate real-life experiences through the employment of moving images. Movies are one of the most popular forms of entertainment, and an enjoyment that can be found in just about every country on earth. Movies have taken the form of motion pictures, comedy programs, long sermons, music videos, educational video, home videos, and even stage shows. In general, a movie is defined by its storyline, but the term can apply to almost any form of multimedia art.
Movie houses are among the largest sources of revenue for movie producers and distributors. Movie houses offer multiple screens for showing movies. Some movie houses show a single movie selected by the customer at a single screen, while others offer a selection of different genres of films. Each seat in a movie house is capable of showing a different selection of movies. For example, one movie house screen may show romantic comedies, while another may show Hollywood blockbusters.
The genre of a movie refers to the entire formula and story line of a movie. The structure allows for an unlimited number of plotlines and characters, thus resulting in an expansive variety of movie plots and themes. Genre refers to the particular genre of movies. For example, Westerns and samurai movies share a common plot, but each of these genres has its own individual elements such as settings, characters, and climax and endings.
The main character or plot line is the central theme of any movie. The theme is expressed throughout most of the dialogue and involves all of the characters in some way or another. Every character in a movie will be connected to the main theme at one point or another. A character’s personality is what defines his or her theme, whether it be love, loneliness, or philosophy. If the theme is philosophy, every character involved in a philosophical movie will be one that is philosophical.
A plotline refers to the central conflict or theme of a movie. Although a movie can have many plotlines, it is rare that all of them will be focused on a single theme. Most movies will deal with a large number of characters throughout history who each have their own perspectives on the theme. The producer may choose to center on a single theme, or to include a number of these different themes in the same film.
