A movie, also known as a movie trailer, a short film, video short, or home video, is an artistic creation designed to simulate specific experiences that convey ideas, stories, emotions, beauty, or even setting. In other words, a movie is a visual representation of something – be it a work, a visual work, or a commercial. Movies are usually produced for sale and they are available for viewing directly on the internet as well. Most people have at least one favorite movie; however, the vast majority of people will never watch a movie more than once or twice. That is because every movie is an individual creation – regardless of whether it was written or filmed by auteurists or Hollywood insiders.
Movies are generally classified into two types: First, motion pictures (also referred to as movie industry productions); and second, non-motion pictures (or TV shows). Motion pictures can either be live-action or silent films, but the most common form of film being used these days are CGI (Computer-generated images). Although some of the classic masterpieces in the history of motion pictures have been lost to time, modern studios are constantly creating new masterpieces that appeal to a wide range of movie-goers.
Movie genres generally fall into two general categories: Entertainment or Satirical Films. Entertainment films are intended to entertain, while Satirical films are intended to entertain through thought and/or discussion. The two main movie genres in the United States today are comedy and action movies. While comedy movies are known to be slapstick comedy, they are also known for their social relevance, biting satire, and sometimes crude humor.
Horror movies are created for a number of different reasons. Many horror movies are made to evoke fear, and for this reason are often advertised as suspense thrillers. Action movies, on the other hand, are designed to entertain through intense combat scenes, intense sequences of destruction, and sometimes even gruesome deaths. Although horror movies are usually thought of as pure horror, there are actually quite a few comedy horror movies that have equally disturbing plotlines.
Most movie studios want to create a wide variety of genres so that movie-viewers will have an adequate variety of movies to choose from. For example, Adult movies are designed for people who are looking for a wholesome sexual outlet. On the other hand, children’s movies often tell stories of horror fiction. Special effects, special costumes, and elaborate set pieces are used in order to provide a heightened sense of reality in these types of films. While all genres share some basic features, the genres themselves tend to differ greatly depending on the intended target audience of the movie itself.
These basic film premise and genre characteristics are just a small sampling of the many different movie elements that exist. However, it is interesting to note that these movie elements often overlap. This is particularly true when it comes to psychological thrillers, war action films, thriller films, and mystery movies. The existence of film genres ensures that movie-goers will never be bored with the selection available to them.
