A movie is a type of visual art that uses images and sound to tell a story. Movies can be fiction or non-fiction. They can show life as it is, as it was, or as it could be. They can also make people laugh, cry or feel afraid. Some movies are so good that they inspire people to change their lives.
Often, movies can be divided into genres (types of stories). Dramas usually tell stories about relationships between people. They may have a simple plot where one or two main characters have to overcome an obstacle (e.g. a problem in their relationship). Thrillers are about mysteries or strange events that need to be solved. They usually have a lot of suspense and ‘twists in the plot’ (surprises). Romantic Comedies are about two people falling in love. They can be light or heavy on romance and usually have funny scenes. Science Fiction and Fantasy are movies that take place in a fictional world. They can have magic, animals or machines that can do things that cannot be done in real life.
A great movie needs to have a compelling story that makes the audience want to watch it again and again. It also has to be made well technically. This means that it needs to have great cinematography (the way the camera is used), editing and sound. But the most important part of a movie is the actors. They need to be able to capture the character that they are playing. There have been many flops in hollywood where the acting was so bad that it ruined the entire movie.
To make a movie, the director writes a script which is a list of what the characters in the film should say and do. Actors then read the script and do what the director asks them to do. A cameraman films them doing these things and puts the film together into a movie. Then the movie is shown in a theater where people sit in a dark room and watch it on a screen.
The story in a movie can be about anything that happened in the past, the present or the future. The film can be about a serious topic, such as AIDS or war, or it can be funny or romantic. Some movies have a happy ending, but others have a sad ending. Some movies are based on true events, but most are fictional. Despite the fact that they are not true, movies can still be influential and cause changes in our norms and values. They can also be political and promote ideas or agendas. The movie industry is very influential and affects how we live our lives. This is because it shows us what other people think about certain issues. Movies can be very persuasive and influence our opinions, beliefs and behaviour. Movies can even shape the way we see the world. They can influence our attitudes towards religion, politics and ethics.
