Different Types of Trailers

There are several techniques that video producers and editors can use to make movie trailers. A well-chosen piece of music can add drama to a thriller or a lighthearted pop song to a romantic comedy. Music for a drama trailer often contains a dramatic orchestral piece during the third act. Other techniques include sound effects and fading in and out of scenes. Here are some of the most common techniques for making great video trailers.

One of the most popular types of trailers is the flatbed. Flatbed trailers are highly versatile, with the ability to transport almost anything. They are generally attached to a truck via a ball-type hitch. A super-light trailer may have the ball mounted to the step bumper. But a conventional trailer uses a ball mounted to the drawbar receiver, which is bolted to the vehicle’s chassis. For most applications, a conventional trailer utilizes a ball mounted to the vehicle’s hitch.

If you have a non-standard load, you can customize an extendable double drop trailer. The stepped deck allows for easy height and length adjustment. Double-drop trailers are perfect for transporting large equipment. Their weight capacity is around 40,000 pounds, and their length is 29 to 50 feet. They also have a maximum width of 8.5 feet. In the U.S., the legal maximum height of a double-drop trailer is 11.6 feet, so you can use one of these trailers for hauling heavy equipment.

Another common type of trailer is the lowboy. Also known as a low-bed trailer or low loader, this trailer has a drop deck that has two drops, one behind the gooseneck and one before the wheels. These are ideal for carrying construction equipment and other tall objects. You can also purchase trailers that come with a drop deck if you’re using a low-boy trailer. They are also available in low-bed models, which are used for shipping larger items.

A standard flatbed trailer doesn’t have a container, so it can transport oversized freight. It’s usually equipped with chains, straps, and different tarping solutions to secure the load. Another type of trailer is the refrigerated trailer, which is designed for moving freight that needs to be kept at a specific temperature. Also known as a reefer, it’s often used to move perishable goods. These types of trailers are most common for freight shipping.

The teaser is a short excerpt of the movie. It usually lasts less than a minute. A trailer, by contrast, lasts up to two minutes and 30 seconds, which is more than sufficient for most films. The length of teasers and trailers varies depending on their purpose, although they do follow the same format. A teaser is meant to whet the appetite and build anticipation for the movie. While a teaser may not contain much information about the film itself, it is still an effective marketing tool.

Trailers are rated for a specific gross weight. Gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is the maximum permissible weight of the vehicle towing them and minus the weight of the trailer itself and the payload. It also includes a trailer’s hitch weight, which is a percentage of the weight of the trailer on the tow vehicle’s coupler. Both the GVWR and hitch weight of a trailer must match up. An improperly inflated trailer may cause oversteering and reduce fuel mileage.
