Movies may tell stories about humans or may tell stories about things or people.

It is always difficult to classify movies as they come in various genres like comedy, science fiction, action, horror, fantasy, thriller, mystery, romance, comedy, home videos, family movies and horror movies. These genres have their own special effects and special lenses which are used to tell stories. Usually, movies are classified according to the style and genre. Action movies are those in which the hero or the heroine of the story fights against various enemies or fights against other forces using weapons like guns or other weapons. Science fiction movies are movies about alien beings, time travel, parallel earth and other such exotic subjects.

Fantasy motion pictures are usually used as a sub-genre of action movies and tell stories which are based on different fictional worlds and using different conventions.

The two words comedy and drama refer to the central characters of a movie. Both words carry different connotations in different contexts. A character is a person depicted in a movie as having specific qualities.
